1000 Corona positive found in 48 hours, Hamb fair may end today, two weeks ago.
The Kumbh Mela in Haridwar, Uttarakhand, may end today two weeks ago. Sources say that the decision has been taken after discussions between the Uttarakhand government and religious leaders. Thousands of people have arrived to take a dip in the river at the annual program to be held on the banks of river Ganges. This had raised concerns about increasing Corona cases across the country. In Haridwar, 1,000 people have been found corona infected during the last 48 hours.
This morning, a large crowd of sadhus and devotees took a dip in the main ghat, Har Ki Pauri, for a royal bath. This was the third major bath of the week-long program. The state government says that till 2 pm, 9,43,452 devotees had taken a dip in the Ganges.
Police officer Sanjay Gunjayal told reporters, “Those who did not follow social distancing in non-crowded ghats were fined, but it is very difficult to impose fines on the main ghats. The next important day of Kumbh is scheduled 27 April.
Sources said that amid nationwide criticism and concerns over Corona, the state government is trying to persuade powerful akhadas and sages to leave Haridwar and put an end to the event. This is because of the record crowd seen in Kumbh. Uttarakhand Police Chief Ashok Kumar said that by noon, about 10 lakh people took a bath in the river.
No social distancing is sacred in Kumbh nor are any sadhus or their followers seen wearing masks on the ghats. They are seen roaming the ghats and taking a dip in the river.
Let us know that 1,925 people have been found corona infected in Uttarakhand on Tuesday. This is the highest number of infected infections a day. Apart from this, 1,000 cases have been reported in Haridwar in two days.
