Afghanistan: Bomb blast during prayer in mosque, 3 killed, 15 injured
A bomb exploded on Friday at a mosque in Afghanistan’s Nangarhar province. Namazi was offering Friday prayers in the mosque at the time of the incident. At least three people have died in the bombing while 15 others have been injured.
According to the information received, a bomb exploded in a mosque located in Nangarhar province at 1.30 pm on Friday. Three people have been reported dead in this blast while more than 15 people are said to be injured. According to eyewitnesses, worshipers who offered Friday prayers were targeted.
A Taliban official was quoted by AFP news agency as saying: “There was a confirmed explosion during Friday prayers inside the mosque. Some people were killed and some were injured in the incident.”
It is being told that since the return of the Taliban to power, the Afghan branch of the Islamic State group has been carrying out violent incidents in Nangarhar province. The hand of IS is also suspected behind this blast. Let us tell you that with the return of Taliban rule in August last, extremist attacks are happening in Afghanistan every day.
A few days ago in early November, IS fighters attacked the Kabul National Military Hospital. At least 19 people were killed and more than 50 were injured in the attack. More than 120 people were killed in IS attacks earlier this year on two popular mosques in the country, home to the ethnic minority Hazara community.
