Tamil Nadu’s electricity minister said – due to the running of squirrels on the wires, the lights are blinking again and again
Tamil Nadu Power Minister V Senthil Balaji on Tuesday came under attack and trolled on social media after he said that there was frequent power failure in the state due to squirrels walking on power lines.
Balaji said during the press conference, “In many places there is power failure due to squirrels walking on wires because two wires collide with each other due to squirrel’s movement.” Taking a dig at the minister’s statement, the political Dr S Ramadoss, founder of Dal Pattali Makkal Katchi (PMK), tweeted, “Wonder, what could be the reason for power failure in Chennai today? Maybe there are squirrels running underground in Chennai?
Ramdas, a doctor by profession, said, “Squirrels walk on wires, due to which the wires collide, due to which there is a power failure, says Power Minister Senthil Balaji. Science….Science.” Many other people on social media also targeted the minister for this statement and questioned his reasoning. During a conversation with the media, the minister accused the previous AIADMK government of not carrying out maintenance work and also cited it as the reason for the power failure.
